OMBUDSMAN TRAINING: The Mother Lode Ombudsman program will offer training for new volunteers starting Sept. 12. Volunteers are needed in Tuolumne, Calaveras, Amador, Mariposa and Alpine counties. Ombudsmen advocate for senior citizens by helping them to maintain their rights, their dignity and their quality of life. Volunteers complete a 36-hour training course, become certified by the State of California's Department of Aging, then are assigned to a facility. NEW CONNECTIONS HAS NEW TIMES: New Connections, a free program for parents, grandparents and caregivers, now meets from 6:30 to 8 p.m. the first and third Tuesdays of each month.
