Calaveras County cut Martin Redmond, former senior plan supervisor, a $30,000 check to settle a grievance he filed after being terminated by the county.

The agreement, obtained by the Enterprise, brings the total payout to former Building Department employees to $67,500. Former County Building Official Ray Waller received $37,500 in settling his grievance with the county.

Although the county released the agreements and settlement amounts, details of the grievances are still under wraps. Waller’s settlement contained several confidentiality and non-disclosure clauses, but Redmond’s was significantly shorter-two pages compared to Waller’s seven-page document-and absent of language that would prevent either side from talking.
But the county maintains that Redmond’s grievance constitutes an employee-privacy matter and officials are staying tight-lipped on the specifics.
