Police are still searching for Juan Diego Flores Cruz, 24. He is wanted in connection with the slayings of two men in Angels Camp Thursday night.
The four homicide suspects in the double murder of a Hispanic father and son last week were arraigned in Calaveras Superior Court Tuesday.

All were born in Mexico, were in the United States illegally and were laborers, except for the youngest one, who described himself as “self-employed” in the county jail’s booking report.

A fifth suspect, Juan Diego Flores Cruz, 24, remains on the loose in connection with the stabbing deaths of Pablo Lopez Sr., 46, and Pablo Lopez Jr., 24, at the Stanislaus Street Apartments in Angels Camp last week.
The first suspect, Delfino Flores Cruz, 28, Angels Camp, breathed audibly heavy sighs in the courtroom as the charges were read by Judge Douglas Mewhinney and translated to him by a court interpreter.

All four were charged with the same felony counts, but with variations in their use of a deadly weapon: first-degree murder with malice aforethought on each of the victims; felony assault with a deadly weapon; and special allegations that each suspect used a specific deadly weapon in committing the crimes.

" ... and this is a big part of why the united states needs tougher immigration laws and to crack down on illegal immigrants... we now need to pay to house, feed, cloth, and try these individuals, and to ultimately i'm sure, send them back from whence they came. "

" They are here illegally!! Don't waste your counties monies, or the states send them back home. These individuals should not of even stepped one toe into the court house, or ate one meal in jail, they should of went home immediately. This is why the schools are suffering from State cut backs. Wake up Calaveras and the State. Makes you wonder is this "JOB SECURITY".!!! "

" I am a reader and latina that is ashamed of the horrific crime these people did. Killers come from and in all different colors and should be punished equally. But I am disappointed in how much people really know about our Country and that we are made up of immigrants. But onto
A little bit of education to these readers.
First undocumented people are not eligible for any type of assistance programs. They are only eligible for "emergency medicare" and schooling for children. They have to work hard(sometimes 2 jobs) to provide food and shelter for their families. They contribute billions of dollars in sales, property taxes and income taxes each year. According to the SSA undocumented workers pay as much as 7 billion in SS & medicare taxes ea. yr. and do they get any of it, NO. It is put into a fund Earnings Suspense File account for SSA. They have contributed as much as $520 billion to this account, ask your federal govt.where this money goes? Because it does not come back to any undocumented person!
Please research before you add any more stupid comments! "

" Close the borders now! Penalize employers who hire undocumented workers. These individuals need to be returned to Mexico without the chance of a trial here in the states.....they don't even speak english for crying out loud! It's time to put the hammer down so my kids won't have to pay to clothe, educate and feed people that come here illegally. "

" Hey dh, no offense to you, as I am not against anyone of any color. But, lets get that facts straight they are not here LEGALLY,yes, I did say NOT here LEGALLY!!! Why should we have to pay for it, and most illegal LATINO'S do not pay any taxes, as they are field workers getting paid by CASH. Oh, and lets not for get we are actually in the 2000 century and all colors work two jobs. So stop feeling sorry for yourself. Oops, I forgot they also cound not speak english, more $$$ for the State and Calaveras County to spend, instead of well, lets say an actual math book! "

at some point or another these actions take place, and have taken place in this county. All of the sudden that a MEXICAN did it,everyone turns racist?
I am an American and proud of it to.
some of you peple need to wake up and think...if all we do is deport this guys,(which dont get me wrong, deserve to burn in hell,)they shall come back just like they did before.
You and i know there is no wall big enough to keep them from getting here.
stop worrying about what's going on around you when you dont even know the favorite color of your kid for god's sake.wake up "

" I was born and raised in Calaveras County, Murphys to be exact. I'm now living in Southern California. You say punish the people who employ undocumented workers. What if these workers have fraudulent documentation? A majority of them do, they usually acquire them when they get here, either through somebody who makes these documents or identity theft. How is an employer to distinguish the difference between forged, stolen or legitimate Green Cards? With these documents these same people can also get welfare, medical and food stamps. Who should be punished the county or state for not knowing the difference? Tax Payers are already being punished. Another question is how many of you would actually go out there and work in the fields? I used to pick up walnuts out on Six Mile Road, my mother used to pick peppers in Vallecito and my brother used to run irrigation pipes out on Red Hill Road, before Wineries and Tourism took over the county. None of these jobs are easy and their back breaking. All I know is something needs to be done. I don't see the lawmakers (congress) doing what we hired (elected) them to do, to secure and protect our future. "

Not true, this crime was committed on other Mexican Nationals. Mexico doesn't take that so lightly, if deported they would go to prison. But of course, for how long would depend on what our Government and the Mexican Government agree upon. "

" As Sheriff Downun and District Attorney, Jeff Tuttle, grapple with less funding and particularly with regard to the double homicide (illegal immigrants) in Angels Camp and all the associated costs with that case (investigators interpreters, etc.) let's not forget the Anthony Mann trial.

How may tens of thousands of public dollars were misspent on that failed case?

Why would the DA and Judge John Martin (who is up for election this year) advance a case with minimal DNA and forensic evidence with a lynching mob mentality against Mann?

I was in court when Anthony Linbaugh testified and evidence like clear steering wheel bruises on Lingaugh's
hands and unidentified blood splatter on the vehicles driver's side ceiling panel were dismissed.

Do Judge John Martin and DA Jeff Tuttle, have the ethics to hold these illegal immigrants accountable?

Reeling further back, why did former DA Peter Smith exit the elected position in his second term?

Word in the community was that Smith was attempting to prosecute locals or the untouchables.

Another potential cost to the county is after speaking with the grand jury last week, we have submitted public corruption allegations against Judge Martin, DA Tuttle, Sheriff Downum, County Council, Jim Jones and other officials.

This will require that the grand jury hire independent legal council
and a prosecutor, due to conflict of interest allegations. "
