A trust fund has been established to raise funds for Pam Venable, whose son was killed in quad vehicle accident on Hogan Dam Road after the fireworks show at Hogan Dam Reservoir. He was killed when his vehicle left the road and struck a tree. Before this news had set in, Venable learned that her father, Ray Parker, had been diagnosed with terminal cancer, with just months to live.

Venable is the admissions director at Mark Twain Convalescent Hospital in San Andreas, which is home to many disabled veterans. Her husband, Charles Venable, a disabled veteran, died last year. Her daughter is critically ill, waiting for a lung transplant and heart surgery.

Charles was a member of the American Legion Post 102 in Valley Springs and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2600 in San Andreas. Pam worked as a volunteer for both posts. Posts 102 and 2600, upon hearing of her misfortunes, quickly gathered funds to assist her in the burial of her son. But her financial needs will go far beyond the burial of her son.
As commander of American Legion Post 102 in Valley Springs, David Evans has established a trust fund at the Bank of Rio Vista in Valley Springs. To donate to the assistance of Pam Venable and her family, send a check payable to the “Pam Venable Trust Fund” to Bank of Rio Vista, 2 Nove Way, Valley Springs, CA 95252. To make a cash donation, stop by the bank in person or call 772-0641 to arrange a pickup.
