A man in Copperopolis was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of attempted murder after becoming upset over a broken windshield.
Mitchel Ray Moss, 33, of Copperopolis, entered the house of Kyle Anthony Orr, 22, of Copperopolis, brandishing a sword, according to a Calaveras County sheriff's report.
Moss proceeded to enter a bathroom within the house where a 15-year-old female was getting dressed and threatened her with the sword, the report said.
"He threatened her with a sword, and she got in between the toilet and wall trying to defend herself. He then used the sword to shatter the shower door," Sheriff's Lt. Gary Kuntz said.
According to the sheriff's report:
The man then went into the living room and found Orr sitting on the couch and proceeded to ask him why he shot out the windshield on his 1968 Chevy truck with a BB gun. Orr denied shooting the windshield.
After Moss allegedly threatened to kill him, Orr stood up and held up a blanket trying to protect himself. Moss allegedly swung the sword several times and cut the victim on the forearm.
"The victim jumped over the couch and ran out the door to a neighbor's house and called the for help," Kuntz said.
Moss proceeded to confront the female juvenile again threatening to spill her blood.
According to the report, the suspect left the residence and was later arrested behind his home down the street.
Moss is reported to have been under the influence of alcohol.
Orr was transported to Mark Twain St. Joseph's Hospital for treatment and received stitches there, according to Kuntz.
Moss is being charged with: felony vandalism, annoying telephone calls, willful cruelty to a child, first-degree burglary, felony assault with great bodily injury likely not a firearm, exhibiting a deadly weapon other than a firearm, threatening a crime with the intend to terrorize and attempted murder.
The case is still under investigation and Moss is being held on $795,000 bail.
