Mar-Val Store Director John Webb presents a $1,877 check to Pam Rivera, parent coordinator of the Mar-Val Student Enhancement Program. Mar-Val shoppers can opt to have 1 percent of any purchase donated to a school of their choice. The funds collected for Valley Springs Elementary School, Rivera said, are used for technology enhancements, with the goal of replacing the school's 1980s-era computers. The Student Enhancement Program raises about $3,500 annually for VSE. Since the school joined the program in 2004, the Parent-Teacher Organization has been able to buy five new computers.

“This project to replace all the computer stations may take four years to complete,” Rivera said, “but we are one the way and all is greatly appreciated. Many people are to be thanked!”
