The Board of Supervisors for Calaveras County will meet Tuesday, June 25, and the agenda’s principal action will be the approval of the county’s recommended budget for the 2013-14 fiscal year.

Given the $3.3 million deficit which is projected for the county in the upcoming year, the board is tasked with making cuts to many departments in order to produce a balanced budget. Those decisions will be discussed and voted upon at Tuesday’s meeting.

The board also is scheduled to adopt a minute order to approve a contract with California Forensic Medical Group for jail medical services in the amount of $394,630 and to approve a minute order amending the maximum amount of the county’s agreement with the California Department of Alcohol and Drug Programs to $2,011,222.

An additional minute order is included which will authorize a settlement offer of $165,000 to J&B Transportation and Progressive Insurance Companies for an automobile accident on O’Byrnes Ferry Road Bridge. The board is also set to adopt a resolution approving $640,704 to replace the low-water crossings on Singletree Drive and $611,900 to design a replacement bridge at Hogan Dam Road.

The budget is already balanced. Fiscal stability aside, no cuts are legally required.
