The Calaveras Local Agency Formation Commission on Monday will review the Calaveras County Planning Commission’s recommendations on the land-use and resource production elements of the general plan update.

At the Jan. 25 meeting, the commission directed John Benoit, LAFCO executive officer, to write a letter to Planning Director Peter Maurer and the planning commission on the two elements.

The letter states the language of the elements is too ambiguous and both LAFCO and the city of Angels Camp have not been taken into consideration.

Benoit and David Hanham, planning director for Angels Camp, at the Jan. 25 meeting said it was unusual for a county general plan not to address development in incorporated areas separate from development in unincorporated areas. Angels Camp is the only incorporated area of the county.

The LAFCO intends to review the other elements of the general plan over the coming months.

On Monday LAFCO will also discuss and establish a work program for the upcoming fiscal year. The meeting starts at 6 p.m. in the county board of supervisors’ chambers.
