On June 28 in the early afternoon, an adult male was found pinned to the ground under a rolled-over utility vehicle (UTV) on Megan Lane, a gravel road off Highway 12 west of Burson, according to first responders.

When emergency personnel arrived on scene, locals had moved the six-seater off-road UTV, and the victim was lying on the ground, Dustin Galliazzo, an engineer with the Calaveras Consolidated Fire District told the Enterprise Tuesday.

The driver suffered a serious head injury, and was transported to Burson Church, from where he was medi-flighted to a trauma center out of the county for treatment. Galliazzo said the victim didn’t have a form of identification on his person, but estimated that he was likely in his 30s.

Alcohol was suspected to play a role in the incident, Galliazzo said.
