Skier dies at Bear Valley

A 71-year-old man died in a skiing accident at Bear Valley ski resort Wednesday.

The Alpine County Sheriff’s Office reported that California Shock Trauma and Air Rescue responded to the incident at about 1:43 p.m. and the skier was pronounced deceased at 3:06 p.m.

“The entire Bear Valley family is very saddened by this tragic incident,” said Andrea Young, General Manager of Bear Valley. “Our hearts go out to this individual’s family and friends during the tremendously difficult time.”

The name of the skier has not yet been released pending notification of kin.
