550-plus marijuana plants seized in formerly raided grow site

Three greenhouses were located in a recent marijuana raid in Mountain Ranch.

On July 2, the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office Marijuana Enforcement Team seized 552 plants in a marijuana raid at a site deputies busted in May, according to a Sheriff’s Office press release.

Located in the 200 block of Old Prospector Trail, Mountain Ranch, the team had formerly identified three greenhouses and seized 380 plants and a rifle. The case was left open, and investigators conducted additional follow-up investigations.

In the recent raid, three greenhouses were identified, and County Code Enforcement and Environmental Health were advised of multiple code and health violations. That included unpermitted/hazardous electrical work and raw sewage being dumped onto the ground. No suspects were found at the location.

“The clandestine growing operation was indicative of an illicit commercial operation and not in compliance with any medical or recreational cultivation,” the release states. The investigation is ongoing.
