A Valley Springs man was arrested Wednesday after a routine traffic stop led to the discovery of illicit drugs, firearms and six felony warrants for the suspect’s arrest out of Sacramento and Calaveras counties.

Daniel Mantz, 35, was stopped by law enforcement at approximately 1:30 p.m.on Pardee Dam Road near Camp Seco Road. He was allegedly in possession of a .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun and a .22 caliber semi-automatic handgun with ammunition for both firearms, over 100 syringes, a bag of suspected methamphetamine and “burglary tools,” according to the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office.

Mantz’s passenger, Angela Lindow, 32, of Valley Springs, was found to have a misdemeanor warrant out of Calaveras County and was issued a citation at the scene.

Mantz was arrested at the scene for the six warrants and additionally charged with violations related to the unlawful possession of firearms and drug paraphernalia. His bail was set at $35,000.

The investigation is ongoing, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
