The Calaveras Public Utility District (CPUD) has postponed its planned June 11, 2019, public hearing regarding proposed water rate increases, according to a June 7 CPUD press release.

The district received a letter from the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association asserting that the district did not give proper notice of the planned hearing. The district disagrees with this assertion; however, in order to avoid the costs of defending the district against potential litigation, the board of directors has elected to postpone the hearing.

At its June 11 meeting, the board will set a new date for the hearing. CPUD will mail notice of the new hearing at least 45 days prior to the new hearing date.

Any protest or written testimony sent to the district in connection with the originally noticed June 11, 2019 hearing will be a part of the record of the new public hearing.
