March 21, 1949 - June 26, 2018
Edward Lucien Gouzenne was born on March 21, 1949, in Modesto, Calif. Ed was a fourth-generation Calaveras County resident and lived there all of his life. He graduated from Calaveras High School in 1967. Ed was traveling with his wife on an RV trip through Medford, Ore., when he became ill. Ed passed away on June 26, 2018, surrounded by family.
Ed leaves behind two sons, Brett and Eddy; a daughter-in-law, Sara; and a stepdaughter, Kayla Northington. Ed was also a newlywed, and leaves behind his wife, Kathy. Ed and Kathy met in high school; they attended the Sweetheart Swing together. In September 2011, they rekindled their friendship and started dating. They married in October of 2016. Ed was most proud of his grandchildren, Soleil, Lavin and Sloane. He loved them dearly and for Ed, it was a great day when he could spend time with them.
On April 15, 2017, Ed retired from Calaveras Telephone in Copperopolis, where he proudly worked for 38 years.
Ed had a servant’s heart. He served as a volunteer firefighter for over 40 years, and currently served on the Copperopolis Fire Protection District board. He was a member of the Odd Fellows Campo Seco Lodge 66 and served as the noble grand. Ed was part of the Tuleburg Chapter of E Clampus Vitas.
Ed’s greatest quality was his care and concern for his friends and family. He was always looking for ways to help friends who might be down on their luck or just needed a little help. His heart was that of an angel and he will be greatly missed.
