Leona Winchell, who lived most of her life in Calaveras County, died on June 14. She was 86.
Born on Nov. 2, 1929, in Portola, she moved to Calaveras County when she was in the fifth grade. She attended Bret Harte High School and worked for several years at El Dorado Savings Bank.
She is survived by her daughter Deborah Stokes.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. July 2 at the San Andreas Memorial Chapel at 254 W. St. Charles St. A reception will be held immediately following the service at the Pickle Patch Deli and Garden at 577 W. St. Charles St.
Donations may be made in her memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or an animal shelter of your choice.
