Jan. 15, 2018, age 77
On Jan. 15, 2018, Kenneth A. Wright, known to many in the La Contenta community as “Scooter,” went home to his Lord and Savior at the age of 77 years.
Ken will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years, Mourlene; and his children, Kem, Terry (Teresa) and Kevin (Kari). He will be fondly remembered by his four grandchildren, Amber, Kyle, Caiden and Adyson. Kenneth will be forever remembered by his nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. Ken was predeceased by his father, Noel R. Wright, mother, Margaret H. Wright, and brother, Larry J. Wright.
Ken proudly served as a cryptographer in the U.S. Army from 1958-1962 and went on to raise his family in Milpitas, Calif., where he built a 29-year career as a driver/salesman with John Morrill/Bob Ostrow Meat Co. He actively served at First Baptist Church and Crossroads Bible Church in San Jose, and then was one of the founding members of Cornerstone Bible Church in Milpitas. Upon retirement, he and Mourlene relocated to Valley Springs, Calif., where they attended and served at Good Samaritan Community Covenant Church. In recent years, one of Ken’s greatest pleasures was to drive his mobility scooter around the neighborhoods in La Contenta collecting stray golf balls. This activity gave him a sense of purpose. He was unable to speak, but always gave everyone he met along the way his great smile and a friendly wave.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. Feb. 17, 2018, at Good Samaritan Community Covenant Church, 4684 Baldwin St., Valley Springs, with Pastor Jeff Mitchell officiating. Memorial donations in memory of Ken may be made to Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, 1 Billy Graham Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28201-0001 or 877-247-2426 or BillyGraham.org.
