Sherwin Lipe died Friday Jan. 25, 2013, at his daughter’s home in Woodland. He was 87 and had dementia.

Mr. Lipe was an avid skier at Bear Valley. He played tennis, and he was a square dancer with the Foothill Swingers in Murphys for 26 years. Mr. Lipe was a World War II Navy veteran.

Mr. Lipe is survived by his wife Carol, married 62 years; and his children, Larry from San Jose and Karen from Woodland. He also leaves behind his brother, Dean, and sister-in-law Riki, of Springfield, Mo.; his sister-in-law Virginia Arreola of Sparks, Nev.; and three nieces, two nephews, two grandnieces, two grandnephews and one great-grandnephew.

Ceremony will be private.
