Kathryn “Kay” Brown died Friday, Feb. 1, 2013. She was 87.

Mrs. Brown was born July 26, 1925, and was the oldest of three children born to Peter Alexander III and Cleo (Haskins) Chastain in Roulette, Pa. She grew up on a farm in Potter County, Pa., and lived with her family until marrying Joseph R. Brown on May 11, 1944.

The family moved to California in 1958 and settled in Sunnyvale with their three children. Mrs. Brown was a homemaker and also worked for Micropoint Manufacturing Company until 1982. In 1983 they completed their dream home in Valley Springs. Mrs. Brown enjoyed the rural quiet life. She loved to cook, and canning was her specialty. Mrs. Brown was a member of the Good Samaritan Community Covenant Church. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt.

She is survived by her loving children, Ted (Elaine) Brown and Diane (Bob) Walker; her two brothers, Peter and Leon; and four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph; a daughter, Karen; and a granddaughter, Rochelle.

There will be a public celebration of life at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at the Good Samaritan Community Covenant Church, 4684 Baldwin St., Valley Springs. There will also be a private interment at Sunset View Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Good Samaritan Community Covenant Church.
