In loving memory of Esther M. Taber who went to be with the Lord and join the “Love of her life” William R. Taber III on Dec. 23, 2018. Born Oct. 2, 1923 to Charles and Minnie Bishop in Canandaigua, New York. She graduated from Canandaigua Academy High School in 1941and continued her education to receive her RN in 1944. She served as a first lieutenant during WWII in the Army Nurse Corps in Bremerhaven Germany until 1947. Following her discharge, she earned her Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Buffalo, New York, in 1949.
Esther and William met while working at the VA Hospital in Canandaigua, New York, then married in August 1950. They moved to Pomona, Calif., in 1955 where she worked at the Pomona Valley Community Hospital until she retired and moved to Valley Springs in 1989.
She was a member of the Community United Methodist Church in Valley Springs where she served as pianist/organist and also a member of the United Methodist Women’s Group. She volunteered for the Calaveras Public Health Dept., Cancer Dressing Group sponsored by Eastern Star. She was also a member of the VSABA.
Esther was preceded in death by her “sweetheart” William R. Taber III and her parents, Charles and Minnie Bishop.
She is survived by her four children: William R. Taber IV (Marlene) Chino, Carolyn Thorp (Bill Eldridge) Clarksville, Tenn., Barbara Price (Ralph) Tracy, Nancy Miller (Charles) Pomona; Brother, Charles Bishop (Ruth) Canandaigua, brother-in-law Lloyd Taber (Pat) Dallas, Ore. Additionally, 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, whose heart was full of love for everyone.
