Honoring the 100th day of school has grown into a tradition of sorts in elementary classrooms throughout Calaveras County. Founded in the Math Their Way curriculum, the event provides kindergarten through second-grade students a fun way to interact with numbers. Students participated in a wide range of activities, including math, art, science, language arts and physical movement.

“The celebration is a good way for students to reflect on how much they have learned since the first day of school, especially in math – including number sense, grouping and counting,” said Mark Twain Elementary kindergarten teacher Heather Barnett. “It is also a reminder that we are more than halfway through the school year!”
