Susan Ashby’s published letter dated Feb. 21, 2019, criticizes 4th District Congressman Tom McClintock’s voting record. This is just a continual small faction of left wingers in our district attacking McClintock at every turn, and not happy that their Democrat candidate Jessica Morse lost to McClintock. If it hasn’t occurred to them, McClintock is a fiscal conservative and is spending taxpayers’ dollars with restraint as it should be. I am happy with his voting record. In fact, Congress needs to rein in spending; cutting taxes is simply not enough if we are to get this country’s deficit under control.
The Democratic Party’s swing from a party of moderation to a far left is frightening with it openly embracing socialism and becoming a party of Trump haters, open borders, third trimester abortions, anti-free market, high taxes, reckless spending, identity politics and outrageous environmentalism. Clearly they have lost touch with mainstream America. Ashby claims that McClintock is obstructing responsible government. However, may I assert that McClintock’s voting recording is in line with less government in the lives of Americans, which is the responsible thing to do?
