The following press release was issued by Caltrans

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is performing a highway improvement project that will repave 8.5 miles of State Route 49 (SR-49).

The project will extend from SR-12 to the Mokelumne River bridge and will extend the service life of the existing pavement while improving efficiency and safety for motorists.

This $3 million project was awarded to George Reed, Inc. of Modesto.

Work is scheduled to begin Monday, July 30, 2018, with the project expected to finish in October 2018.

Construction will occur Monday-Friday beginning at 8:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.

Motorists can expect lane closures and one-way traffic control, with flaggers handling the traffic flow, and up to 20 minute delays during the project. Please leave extra time to reach your destination, and be aware of workers in the Cone Zone.

Work is scheduled as listed, but is subject to change due to traffic, weather or construction-related issues.
