Bullfrogs still searching for first win heading into league play

In their final competition before the start of Mother Lode League play, the Bret Harte High School softball team was unable to pick up a victory. After falling 10-2 to the Millennium Falcons Wednesday afternoon, the Bullfrogs drop to 0-7.

After tying the game at 1-1 in the top of the third inning, the Falcons responded with two runs in the bottom of the frame and added four in the fourth and three in the sixth. Bret Harte scored its final run of the afternoon in the top of the sixth.

Junior Jenna Leary went 1 for 3 with a double and scored a run. Samantha Gish scored Bret Harte’s other run. Sophomore Morgan McDearmid went 1 for 3 with an RBI. Kinlye Apley, Liberty Garcia and Jaycee Davey all recorded singles in the loss.

McDearmid took the loss in the circle, giving up eight hits, seven runs and walking three in five innings of work. Freshman Allyson Stoy pitched one inning and gave up three runs on three hits.

Bret Harte (0-7) will face Amador March 19 in Sutter Creek and will then host Summerville on Friday, March 22. Both games begin at 4 p.m.
