Nathan Reeves from Copperopolis Elementary School and Avery Middle School’s Morgan Greene and Aariah Fox competed June 16 and 17 at the AAU Region 2 National Qualifier Track and Field Meet at Riverbank High School.

Competing in the Sub-Youth Boys division (born in 2004), Reeves qualified for the National Junior Olympic Games, which will be held in Michigan in late July by finishing first in the shot put with a throw of 33-feet-8-inches. Reeves also qualified for nationals by placing third in the 100-meter dash and 400-meter run, and placed fourth in the 200. The top six finishers in each running event qualified for nationals.

Greene also qualified for Nationals by placing fifth in the girls 100 with a time of 14.24 seconds. She narrowly missed qualifying in the 400, finishing in 1:10.54 to place seventh.

Fox, competing in the Midget (age 12) division, qualified for Nationals by finishing first in the 800 with a time of 2:39.27. Less than a half-hour after competing in the 800, Fox ran a 30.20 in the 200.

Reeves, Greene and Fox will all compete at the 2017 AAU West Coast National Track and Field Championships in Reno on June 30 and July 1.
