Calaveras Jr. Reds have a tough time with Sonora

The Calaveras Jr. Reds varsity football team was defeated by the Sonora Jr. Cats 35-14 Saturday in San Andreas.

Calaveras quarterback Jay Clifton finished the day 5 for 7 with 180 yards and two touchdowns. Clifton’s main target was Kevin Cross, who had 110 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Clifton also had a fumble recovery on defense. Cross, along with Lucas Healy and Patrick Savage played tough on the defensive side of the ball.

Junior Varsity

The Calaveras Jr. Reds JV team lost 46-21 to Sonora. Adrian Urbina scored all three of Calaveras’ touchdowns.

Junior Novice

Both Calaveras and Sonora were undefeated heading into Saturday’s game, but it was Calaveras who stayed that way, winning two scores to one. Calaveras got scores from Drake Johnson and quarterback Adam Topie. Austin Lock and Johnson each recorded six tackles in the win.
