SUTTER CREEK – The Calaveras High girls volleyball team snapped a two-match losing skid with a 25-13, 25-19, 25-17 victory at Amador Thursday night.

Kelly Airola had 41 assists and Madison Hull had 15 kills to lead the Redskins (14-8-1, 4-2 Mother Lode League), who stayed one match back of MLL co-leaders Argonaut and Summerville. The Mustangs and Bears go head-to-head today in Tuolumne and Calaveras plays at Summerville Thursday.

Also for Calaveras against Amador, Brianna McGinness had 12 kills; Dakota Butzler and Samantha Baseman had nine kills each; Baseman had 21 digs; and Courtney Tarbat had 19 digs.

Calaveras won Thursday’s freshman match to stay unbeaten in MLL play. In the JV match, the Redskins lost for the first time in league play, falling into a first-place tie with Amador.

Bret Harte 0

Kylie Kester had 15 kills, nine digs and one ace, serving 9 for 9 in the Bullfrogs’ 25-20, 25-16, 26-24 loss Thursday night in Angels Camp.

Also for Bret Harte (8-9-1, 3-3), Erika Rasmussen had seven blocks and Brittany Schulte had 22 assists.

Bret Harte won Thursday’s JV and freshman matches.

ESCALON – Amy Gassner shot a 7-over-par 38 to lead the Redskins in Thursday’s Valley Foothill League North division match at Escalon Golf Course.

“Amy had her best round of the year,” CHS coach Rick Behler said. “She has improved a lot from last year.”

Also for Calaveras (2-7 VFL North), Carleigh Bates and Cally Gustafson shot 50s.

Victoria Sandoval shot a 36 to lead Riverbank (3-6).
