Cynthia Meza takes care of business on the mat

On Saturday, June 2, Calaveras Youth Wrestler Cynthia Meza took first in the USA California State Wrestling Freestyle Championship in Fresno. Meza wrestles in the girls’ novice 70-pound division and finished a perfect 3-0. She only had two points scored on her the entire tournament. In the first round, Meza defeated Juliet Salazar, from Covina, 12-2. Salazar was fresh off of a championship at the USA Nationals in Las Vegas. Following her win over Salazar, Meza picked up a semifinals pin in 46 seconds. In the championship, she got her hand raised in victory after a second period pin.
