Murphys resident Nadia Parsa competed and took first place in the “Little Mo” Northern California Tennis Sectionals on June 2 and 3 at the University of the Pacific, in Stockton. Parsa, 9 years old, competed in the 10’s division.
Parsa has been playing tennis for the past five years and has been taking private and group lessons from United States Professional Tennis Association certified instructor Angela Woods. After taking first place at Stockton, Parsa will compete in the regional tournament, which will be held at the Berkeley Tennis Club Sept. 1-3. There she will compete against players from California, Oregon and Washington for a spot in the national tournament.
“Nadia is a thoughtful and energetic competitor,” Woods said. “She puts forth her best effort on the court each day, and has the dedication and discipline to become a champion on and off the court. It has been a pleasure working with her these past several years.”
