Toyon 8th grade hoopsters win three in a row

The Toyon Middle School 8th grade girls’ basketball team won three games in a row, including its home opener.

On Sept. 18, the Warriors hosted Ione and won 37-12. Bailie Clark scored nine, had four steals and two rebounds; Laney Koepp scored eight and had four boards; Kyra Saiers scored six, had eight rebounds and two steals; Cassie Black scored six and had six rebounds; Brooke Nordahl scored four and had two boards; Jordynn Petersen had four points, five rebounds and two steals; Jolee Gularte had three rebounds and Maya Miller added four rebounds in the win.

On Sept. 24, Toyon defeated Linden 47-2. Koepp had 10 points and one rebound; Sairers had eight points, eight steals and three rebounds; Nordahl scored eight, had three steals and one rebound; Petersen scored eight; Clark had four points and two rebounds; Black had three points, four rebounds and two steals; Maya Miller had three rebounds and two points; Gularte had two steals, two points and one rebounds and Keira Alurcon scored two points.

On Sept. 25, Toyon won a home battle with Jackson 51-33. Clark led the way with 24 points, nine rebounds and six steals. Saiers added 13 points, had seven steals and three boards. Petersen scored six and had four rebounds. Brooke Nordahl had 12 rebounds and four points. Alurcon had two rebounds. Black had six rebounds, two steals and two points. And Koepp had six rebounds.
