Cynthia Meza becomes two-time wrestling champion

Calaveras youth wrestler Cynthia Meza competed at the CA USA Kids State Championships on March 10 at Selland Arena in Fresno and became a two-time Folkstyle State Champion. Meza, 12, competed in the girls’ 79-pound, 12-14 division. She won her first match 2-0 against Alicia Serratos, of Grapplers Studio. In the semifinals, she picked up a pin in the second period over North Coast Grapplers’ Mikayla Garcia. In the finals, Meza picked up a pin in the second period after leading 10-0. She outscored all of her opponents 17-0. Meza will return to Fresno in June to try and become a two-time freestyle champion.
