A total of 44 young boys’ basketball enthusiasts packed into Bret Harte’s upper gymnasium for a five day summer basketball clinic which started on Monday and ends Friday. The clinic is run by head basketball coach Brian Barnett, as well as other Bullfrog coaches and players. The 44 players are made up of 4th through 8th graders. Following a two hour clinic, there was an extra hour dedicated to shooting. Barnett’s goal is to make better basketball players and give the kids an opportunity to enjoy the game and focus on the fundamentals.
“As a kid, I remember doing this and it was great being in the gym and seeing the high school players,” Barnett said. “I want the kids to do things right and then they’ll get some confidence. We all like doing things that we are good at. So if we can get them being better at it early, hopefully they’ll continue through high school.”
