Calaveras Jr. Reds are ready for the playoffs

The Calaveras Jr. Reds varsity squad finished its regular season with a 42-12 win over the AMA Bullfrogs Saturday at Dorroh Field in Angels Camp. Calaveras quarterback Jay Clifton had 125 yards rushing and two scores, one of which went for 90 yards. Clifton also threw for 72 yards, which included a 10-yard touchdown pass to Braeden Orlandi and a 6-yarder to Cody Batterton. Kevin Cross rushed for 36 yards and Logan Parmeley ran for 16. Patrick Savage scored on a 68-yard run. Travis Wright recovered a fumble and Cross had an interception. Calaveras had a total of 332 yards on the day. Calaveras got the No. 4 seed in the playoffs and will face No. 5 Linden on Saturday at 4 p.m. in Ripon.

Calaveras’ junior varsity squad defeated the Bullfrogs 42-12, while the novice was victorious 47-7. In the novice win, Colton Ray rushed for three scores, while Chris Fowler, Payden Long, Easton Kniess and Owen Shahan all rushed for one score. Bradon Pekerak had one interception and two onside kick recoveries. The novice squad also got the No. 4 seed in the playoffs and will face No. 5 Central Valley at 3 p.m., Saturday in Waterford.
