Bullfrog hoopsters beat Amador to begin league

After losing six straight, the Bret Harte High School girls’ basketball team has now won two in a row. The Bullfrogs snapped their losing streak with a 60-49 home victory on Jan. 4 over McNair and kept things moving in the right direction with a 45-36 win against Amador Tuesday night in Angels Camp.

In Bret Harte’s win over Amador, senior Bri Simpson had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Hailey Marinics also added eight points, seven rebounds and four assists.

“Our team played great,” said Bret Harte head coach Mitch Hodson. “We had some trouble getting our shots to fall, but kept working hard. Our bench came in big and we got the job done.”

Bret Harte (8-7, 1-0 MLL) will have a challenge as it faces the Sonora Wildcats (10-5, 1-0 MLL) at 6 p.m., Friday in Angels Camp.
