Members of the San Andreas Rapid Rattlers youth soccer team got the exciting chance to meet a professional soccer player. On Aug. 7, Sacramento Republic FC defenseman Justin Schmidt met with the Rattlers after taping an episode of “Shasta’s Journey” in San Andreas.

Schmidt attended the University of Washington before being drafted in the second round (35th overall) in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft by Real Salt Lake.

Players talked with Schmidt, got autographs and took pictures with the pro. Schmidt planned on visiting the Rattlers at their practice in Valley Springs, but poor air quality due to the fires forced the practice to be canceled.
