CARSON – Former Calaveras High football coach Roger Canepa put the finishing touches on a dream season Friday night by guiding the Central Catholic High football team to a 66-7 victory over Santa Fe Christian of Solana Beach in the 2012 CIF State Division IV Football Championship Bowl Game.

The Raiders (14-2) rushed for 249 yards in the first quarter and never looked back en route to their first state bowl game victory. Central Catholic finished with a total of 528 rushing yards with running backs Ray Lomas (183) and Rey Vega (202) combining for 385 of that total.

Earlier this season, Canepa won his first Sac-Joaquin Section championship in a head coaching career that has spanned 17 years and included stops at Sonora, Calaveras and Central Catholic. Canepa was head coach at Calaveras from 1998 to 2007, and guided the Redskins to the Division IV section title game in 2002, when they lost to Escalon.

In the only other state

bowl game involving a

Sac-Joaquin Section team this weekend, Oakdale fell 42-15 to Serra of Gardena in the Division II game.
