Warriors 8th grade basketball claims two more wins

The Toyon Middle School 8th grade girls’ basketball team picked up two more victories. On Sept. 26, the Warriors went on the road and beat Ione 64-19. The next day, Toyon picked up a 43-35 home victory over Avery.

Against Ione, Bailie Clark scored 19 points, had four rebounds and three steals. Laney Koepp scored 12, had seven rebounds and four steals. Brooke Nordahl scored 11 and had nine boards. Jolee Gularte had seven points, six rebounds and two steals. Jordynn Peterson scored six, had four rebounds and one steal. Kyra Saiers had five points, six steals and one rebound. Cassie Black scored two and had two rebounds.

Against Avery, the Warriors came back in the fourth quarter to pick up the victory. Nordahl recorded a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Clark had 14 points, six steals and five rebounds. Peterson had 11 rebounds, eight points and one steal. Black had four boards, three points and three steals. Saiers had four rebounds, three steals and two points. And Koepp had two points and one steal in the win.

The Warriors are off for a week, but will return the second week of October to host Mark Twain and then travel to Jackson.
