Susan Ashby
Hovey Winery presents mosaics by Susan Ashby in its Murphys tasting room during October and November.
Ashby is a native Californian and has lived in Valley Springs since 2005. She worked for an international legal publisher for 28 years and has traveled the world, visiting countries on six continents. She has seen eight total solar eclipses, most recently the 2017 spectacle, where she ventured to eastern Oregon in August.
Upon retiring in 2014, Ashby decided to devote all her extra time to being an artist. She started with collages and then became interested in mosaics. She attended classes at the Institute of Mosaic Art in Berkeley and has since developed her own techniques. She now focuses on the faces of animals, but occasionally creates pieces from photographs or well-known paintings.
The tasting room is at 350A Main St., Murphys. The exhibit can be viewed from 12 to 5:30 p.m. daily through Nov. 30. For more, visit hoveywine.com or call 728-9999.
