The “Calaveras Has Talent” competition came to a close at the Calaveras County Fairgrounds Saturday evening, in what was made a free show for the public.

After each contestant performed one routine Saturday, judges narrowed the field of 13 finalists, seven youth acts and six adult acts, down to six finalists, three youth and three adult. Finalists then performed a second routine, which was judged to determine a youth winner and adult winner.

Katy Meeks, a senior at Calaveras High School, was awarded first place among youth acts for her intricate self-choreographed dance routines. Yo-yo pro Max Girard and singing sensation Hannah Casillas were second-place and third-place finalists, respectively.

Vocal and guitar duo Aaron and Crystal Dailey won first place for adult acts with a pair of fun cover songs. In second place was Marilyn Shrouf, a vocalist and keyboard player who performed original songs, and Gayle Silva was awarded third place for her vocal covers.

Donations were taken throughout the evening Saturday to benefit Calaveras County music programs.
