Christopher and Jennifer Trotter opened their Valley Springs location in the autumn of 2019. They felt the foothills needed a good Italian eatery. Christopher and Jennifer have been in the restaurant business 24 years! They have three other locations: Lodi, two in Stockton and Linden. Linden is where their production plant cranks out raviolis, lasagna, and meatballs, made daily, and then distributes them to their different locations. Their manager makes the focaccia bread daily on the premises.

Manager, Joyce Turpin, greeted me with a nice smile and the other young lady assisting her welcomed me in. The restaurant is clean and organized well. They can seat 34 inside plus two tables with four chairs each outside in front of the restaurant for patio dining. The atmosphere is friendly. You order off a huge billboard behind the register area and can watch your meal being prepared. It is cafeteria style. Their best sellers are their deli sandwiches and their tri-tip reigns as king. They also do a daily special every day except Monday. Tuesday is tacos; Wednesday is Italian macaroni and cheese and spicy cheese ravioli; Thursday is ham and potato casserole and pesto penne; Friday through Sunday is Italian macaroni and cheese and pesto penne.

In addition to their restaurant dining, they also cater (they have a separate menu) on site and off the premises, and host fundraisers.

The menu consists of 12 combo plates, sandwiches (where you choose your meat, cheese, bread, and condiments), three different salads, pasta, baked chicken and dessert. I ordered Combo #8, which was a 1/2 pint of pasta (I chose lasagna), focaccia and a drink for $6.88. I purchased the Combo #1 for my husband which was a choice of pasta (ravioli), choice of salad (green with toppings), focaccia and a drink for $13.48. The food is good. The gravy on the pasta is not acidic and well balanced with flavor and herbs. The ravioli is as soft as a pillow when you bite into it. The lasagna was layered with pasta and meat sauce and had cheese on the top. Their ice tea is freshly brewed and is also made daily.

De Vinci’s price points are very reasonable. I also like that I can purchase day-old focaccia at 50% off! They come in full sheet and half sheet offerings. I bought two full sheets. You can also just purchase soup, salad dressing, and sauces to take home. These are not at 50% off.
