May 13, 1951 – Mar 9, 2017

Dennis Alton Mason, age 65, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2017, at Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital in Auburn, Calif., where he was surrounded by his family as he drifted off to be with the Lord. Dennis was the son of Earl Mason and Helen Lewis, who preceded Dennis in death.

Dennis leaves his loving memory to be cherished by his wife, Linda Mason; their three children, Deborah Vickery, Lee Mason and Denise Parker; four grandchildren; his sister, Renee Kirk and her family of West Point; a special Aunt Fran and uncle from Glencoe; and many cousins and nieces and nephews.

Dennis and Linda were married in Reno on Feb. 3, 1973, and were blessed to have 44 years of marriage together. Dennis was born in Stockton on Mother’s Day, May 13, 1951, and lived in Calaveras County all his life. He started school at Mosquito Gulch in Glencoe, graduated eighth-grade from Rail Road Flat Elementary, and graduated from Calaveras High School in 1969. He worked for Sport Hill Sand and Gravel out of high school and spent most of his employment logging, where he was an excellent mechanic and machine operator. Dennis worked for L&P Logging and was the last surviving partner of Cal-Co Logging. Dennis loved cars and had several classic cars. His favorite was his 1949 Chevrolet pickup. Many car shows were attended over the years. He was always ready to help others with their cars, as his shop was always open.

At the age of 13, he developed kidney disease and went through life valiantly facing the challenges from this and other medical problems. The silver lining was the unselfish love from his sister donating her kidney that lasted for 12 years and then his cousin, Sharon McKinney, which lasted 21 years. He was blessed with these female organs and overwhelmed with their generosity of love.

Friends and family are welcome to join the Mason family on Sunday, April 30, 2017, for a Celebration of Life at the Jackson Rancheria from 2 to 4 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 717 Market St., Suite 450, San Francisco, CA 94103, or visit kidneynca.org. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting danerimortuary.com and signing the guest book.
