Steven Allan Truelsen passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Monday, Sept. 4, 2017, at Sutter Health Memorial Medical Center in Modesto, Calif.
He was born on Aug. 22, 1954, in Oakland, Calif., to Clyde and Margaret Truelsen. He was a 1972 graduate of Skyline High School and joined the United States Air Force immediately after graduation. He married Janet Lavaroni Truelsen in October of 1977 in San Andreas, Calif. The couple later welcomed three daughters and resided in Valley Springs, Calif. While raising his family, Steve was a banker with Union Safe Deposit Bank and then Bank of the West for 35 years. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and a parishoner of St. Andrews Catholic Church for the past 30 years.
Steve loved his family and made friends wherever he went. His hobbies included sports, enjoying the outdoors and traveling. He was an active member of his church and community and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Marie Lavaroni Truelsen, and his brothers, Ronald and Kenneth Truelsen. He is survived by his three daughters, Stephanie Marie Hess, Danielle Elizabeth Truelsen and Angelina Janelle Truelsen; and two grandchildren, Lucas James Hess and Mikaela Marie Hess.
A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017, and Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 15, 2017, both at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church, 162 Church Hill Road, San Andreas, Calif. A graveside service follows Mass at St. Andrew’s Catholic Cemetery and a reception follows at St. Andrew’s Parish Hall. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice in Steven’s name.
