Gold gymnasts conclude winter season



ROSEVILLE – In the final meet of the winter season, Erica Ham of the Calaveras Gold gymnastics team finished first in the all-around competition for Level 5 (older) gymnasts at the Roseville Invitational last weekend.

Ham, 12, finished first on the bars and on the floor, and was second on the vault, on her way to a 33.55 all-around score.

Finishing two spots back of Ham in third was fellow Gold gymnast Morgan Roots with a 32.8. Roots, 11, won the vault competition.

Also for Calaveras, Brianna Simpson, 10, was fifth.

In the Level 4 (older) competition, Danielle Phillips, 12, tied for second in the vault and was third in the all-around, while Priscilla Ruth, 10, was second on the floor and sixth in the all-around.

Toyon splits with Jackson

On Tuesday afternoon at Toyon, the Warriors seventh-graders beat Jackson in two games. Toyon (2-0) was led by Paulina Mejia and Adrienne Alberts.

In the eighth-grade game, Jackson defeated Toyon 25-6, 25-18.
