Benjamin Stoner, of Valley Springs, entered a 1/32nd scale plastic model of an F-4E Phanton fighter jet in the 10th annual Silicon Valley Scale Modelers’ Kick Off Classic contest in Milpitas on Feb. 16. It was his first-ever contest entry and he walked away with the first-place trophy.
Benjamin entered the junior-youth (10 and under) aircraft category. The categories range from aircraft to ships to armor. He based his jet model design on a Play Station game called Ace Combat, is like a combat simulator, said his father, Paul Stoner.
Benjamin attends Jenny Lind Elementary School and this was his first International Plastic Modelers Society contest, according to his father. “We are very proud of Benjamin and he is looking forward to next years Kick Off Classic,” his father said.
