QUILTS HONOR ARMY RANGERS: Judith Garcia, left, and Melody Vialpando display a quilt made to honor fallen soldier. The VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 3322 of West Point has completed a patriotic quilt project begun shortly after 9-11. Like most Americans, the members of the Auxiliary were outraged at the attack made on the United States, said Garcia, an Auxiliary member. “We were also saddened by the loss of life during the military operations in ‘America Strikes Back Against Terror’ in Afghanistan,” she said. “For our contribution we decided to make a red, white and blue star quilt for each of the families of the first two fallen Army Rangers of the “War on Terror. We spent many hours quilting and have recently sent these quilts to the U.S. Army base at Fort Benning, Ga., to be presented to the families.
