HOSPITAL AUXILIARY BOOK SALE: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and July 24 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Community Education Center at Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital in San Andreas, the hospital auxiliary will hold a used goods and book sale. BOOK VERSUS MOVIE CLUB MEETING: At the Arnold Library, the Book Versus Movie Club will view “The Outsiders.” Group members read the book before seeing the movie and then discuss the book and film. Children from grade three and up are welcome. Call 795-1009 to register.

CAR WASH, BAKE AND RUMMAGE SALE: Today and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Bret Harte High School Theater parking lot on Main Street in Angels Camp, the high school cheerleading squad will hold a car wash, bake sale and rummage sale. To make a donation, call 728-1637 or 728-2007.

MOONLIGHT SERENADE: At White Pines Park, the White Pines Park Committee presents its annual Moonlight Serenade. Attitude adjustment begins at 5:30 p.m.; a tri-tip barbecue dinner is served at 6:30 p.m., followed by dancing to the music of the Space Heaters at 7:30. Tickets are $20 each and are available by calling 795-0296. Only 300 tickets are sold so early reservation is encouraged. Proceeds benefit the committee and its efforts at maintaining and improving the park.

CALAVERAS GARLIC HARVEST FESTIVAL: At the Table Mountain Ranch at 961 Pennsylvania Gulch Road outside Murphys, the Calaveras Garlic Harvest Festival will feature wine tasting, crafts, live music and fun for the whole family. Cost is $8 for adults; free for children under 12. Tickets are sold at the door. Call 728-9112 for more information.

TUESDAY

HRC DIRECTORS MEETING: 4:30 p.m. at the Calaveras Women’s Crisis Center at 1404 Gold Hunter Road, San Andreas, the Human Resources Council, Inc. Board of Directors will meet. Call 754-3114.

THURSDAY

BRET HARTE PHYSICALS: At the lower gym at Bret Harte High School in Angels Camp, athletes participating in sports at the school will be given physicals. Girls meet at 3 p.m.; boys meet at 4:30 p.m. Insurance policy numbers and parental signatures are required. Packets may be picked up from the school office, or at the physicals. All students planning to participate in sports should plan to attend.

RABIES VACCINATION CLINIC: 6 p.m. at the Government Center at 891 Mountain Ranch Road in San Andreas, Calaveras County Animal Control will conduct a rabies vaccination and licensing clinic. All dogs must be on a leash and all cats in carriers and animals must be four months of age or older. Rabies vaccinations cost $6. Dog licenses are $7 if spayed or neutered (with proof) or $15 if not. Call 754-6509 for more information.

GABA MEETING: 6 p.m. at Tallahan’s Café in Arnold, the Greater Arnold Business Association will hear from Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce President, Nick Baptista. No-host beverages begin at 6 p.m., the meeting is held at 6:30 p.m. and dinner, consisting of a choice between charbroiled salmon, chicken parmagiano or vegetarian eggplant parmagiano, will be served at 7 p.m. Cost is $20, including tax and tip. Reservations must be made by July 22 by calling 795-1588.
