Mountain Ranch



A vegetation fire sparked to life at 1:30 p.m. Thursday on the 8200 block of Whiskey Slide Road in Mountain Ranch.

The blaze was caused by downed power lines and burned six acres of vegetation before being contained, according to a report from Cal Fire.

The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office, PG&E and California Highway Patrol were all notified. Whiskey Slide and Mountain Ranch roads were closed for a time.

Cal Fire responded from the Columbia Air Attack Base and with Copter 404, San Andreas, Valley Springs, Murphys, West Point, Altaville, Esperanza and Vallecito. Local units responded from Central Fire and San Andreas.

There were no injuries and the incident closed at 8:08 p.m.
