A local long-term care center has recently received the honor of being recognized as a Best Nursing Home by U.S. News and World Report. This distinction is for units 6 and 7 of the Sierra Care Center, which is Adventist Health Sonora’s long-term care center.
Out of 15,000 nursing homes reviewed nationwide, only 2,975 nursing homes earned this recognition.
“This designation is a validation of the work that we do,” said Rusty Ingraham, skilled nursing director at Adventist Health Sonora. “These are the results of a combined effort. There are many ancillary departments whose dedicated work has contributed to these results. We all have to work together to make it happen.”
One of the staff’s main priorities is to not only meet, but to exceed the staffing and quality measures of Medicare and to earn five stars on a designation known as Medicare’s Nursing Home Compare. Earlier this year, the Sierra Care Center was recognized as having a “no-finding survey” with the California Department of Public Health.
“I am so proud of the care our associates at the Sierra Care Center provide,” said Michelle Fuentes, president of Adventist Health Sonora. “Their love and compassion for each resident is evident in these outstanding results.”
